Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Management and Marketing in the Lombardo College of Business welcomes applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning in August 2024. Responsibilities include helping to direct and teach in our rapidly growing Information Technology program, advising students, scholarly work, and department, university, and professional service that includes assisting with accreditation and assessment. Courses may include Fundamentals of Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Networking, IT Project Management, and Human-Computer Interaction. This person will be joining us at an exciting time for our college, with new majors, concentrations, and cocurricular initiatives being crafted, as well as a new building. Actual course assignments will depend on department needs and will include mixed modalities. For full consideration, all candidate materials must be received by January 31, 2024.

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications as well as aligned with the details contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement.

Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctoral degree or ABD candidate, with PhD in Information Technology or closely related discipline with evidence of completion by date of eligibility to apply for reappointment to second year (September 23, 2024 for Spring 2024 hires or January 30, 2025 for Fall 2024 hires).
  • Minimum of 18 credits of graduate level coursework in Information Technology.
  • Experience teaching in the field of information technology as an instructor of record for at least one face-to-face class.
  • A Statement of Teaching Philosophy.
  • Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful teaching demonstration.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned PhD in Information Technology from a regionally accredited program.
  • Three (3) years of experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level IT courses.
  • Evidence of sustained effectiveness in teaching at the University level (as documented by at least two letters of recommendation).
  • Evidence of recent online teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated scholarly experience in Information Technology that resulted in peer-reviewed publications, proceedings and/or involved undergraduate students.
  • Evidence of course/curriculum development experience.
  • Evidence of service to the university, the community, or the profession.

Job Description
EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Tenure Track faculty are responsible for teaching students both in assigned courses and outside-the-classroom settings (e.g., student research, service learning, field activities and placements), advise students, and carry out other assigned professional responsibilities in support of student learning and success. The academic-year workload for full-time faculty is 24 workload hours and faculty must hold a minimum of five office hours per week on no fewer than three different days.The successful candidate will develop and teach courses throughout the entire information technology curriculum, from introductory courses in information technology to advanced courses in networks, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and risk management. These include online and face-to-face modalities.
Additionally, the successful candidate will establish an active research program that involves students and participate in assessment/accreditation activities associated with the program that includes the revision of existing courses as well as the development of new courses within and related to the area of information technology.
Candidates must be willing to teach day, evening and/or weekend classes and conduct classes on the Millersville campus through multifaceted teaching strategies for face-to-face classroom delivery and/or web-enhanced or web-based formats. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs.
Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours as well as be able to teach in a variety of delivery modalities.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Department of Management and Marketing in the Lombardo College of Business is comprised of seven full-time faculty members. The college has approximately 750 undergraduate students and offers BS degrees in accounting, finance, information technology, marketing, management, and business administration. The Lombardo College of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Essential Functions

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/classroom environment.
  • Teach courses face-to-face at the higher education level using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, using online tools and/or equipment and/or other appropriate tools appropriate modes of education delivery.
  • Speak in a clear voice and hear spoken words.
  • Read and write the written word and higher-level statistics/mathematics.
  • Manage classroom activities.
  • Record and calculate grades, prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of appropriate textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the delivery of instruction.
  • Use computer for email, obtain information on websites, prepare class documents, grade papers, submit final grades online and other duties related to teaching and advising students and serving the department, college, university and community.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risks.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
